The new 2022/2023 winter season in St. Moritz is about to start and as every year our Concierge Department has created a Bucket List for our dear clients and members. We thought to share it here with you to make sure that no one misses the most interesting events and activities.
Skiing & snowboarding. Well, it wouldn’t be probably correct if we would not start our bucket list with those two activities. The season at Corvatsch and Corviglia areas is open, several slopes are well covered with powder, and we keep fingers crossed for big snow falls for the upcoming weeks. Check what is open here: https://www.engadin.ch/en/slopes-tracks/mountain-railways/ By the way, the first Corvatsch Snow Night is already on the 2nd December. Don’t miss it! Cross-country skiing. Over “the corona years” cross-country skiing has gained in popularity among amateurs. The very first slopes are already open in Pontresina but we can’t wait for January to make the first trip over the Engadine frozen lakes from Champfèr to Maloja and back. The culmination of the cross-country skiing season is always the Engadin Ski Marathon. Note the date: 12th March 2023! https://www.engadin-skimarathon.ch/en/ Check which cross-country ski slopes are open to start training: https://www.engadin.ch/en/slopes-tracks/cross-country-trails/
What is the easiest way to get into “jingle bells” mood? Of course, a visit to a Christmas market. Our favorite ones: in Celerina on the 3rd December, in St. Moritz on the 9th December and then in Sils on the 18th December. See you there with a mulled wine cup! And by the way, don’t forget that Badrutt’s Palace Christmas Tree lightening ceremony is back this year on the 6th December!
Gourmet discoveries or re-discoveries are always a part of our Bucket lists. Where to buy the best raclette cheese (of course, in Sennerei Pontresina) or where to have the best Afternoon High Tea (of course by the panoramic window of Palace’s Le Grand Hall), what is new (everyone is waiting for Langosteria’s opening date announcement) and what is a new must (have you already been in the two Krone-s, in St. Moritz and La Punt)? The list is endless! Just ask your personal PPM Concierge for recommendations.
Ice skating. The natural ice rinks on the lake Staz or – from January on – on St. Moritz lake, rinks on the grounds of Grand Hotel Kronenhof or Kulm, Ludains ice arena or ice trail Madulain to Zuoz – the choice is yours. And with a bit of luck, you might experience the unique black ice of the Engadin lakes. Read more about the new project “2234 Ice Paradise” here: https://www.engadin.ch/en/ice-sports/black-ice/
Snow touring. Do you know San Gian or Piz Lagrev touring routes? If you are new to snow skinning, but you’ve always wanted to be once on top of the mountains to watch the incredible sunrise over the Alps, just let your concierge know about your wish and the best local touring guide will give you tips and tricks and show you the most beautiful itineraries. As an alternative, think about snowshoeing which is a great way of discovering winter mountains too.
Once the high season celebrations are over, it is time to inspect new business opportunities and why not to visit the Crypto Finance Conference which will take place in St. Moritz between 11th to 13th January. The CfC is designed for sophisticated private and institutional investors who are actively working in, or interested in learning more about, the digital assets, crypto, and blockchain industries. Learn more here: https://cfc-stmoritz.com/
Have you already checked out the program of the Gourmet Festival 2023? https://www.stmoritz-gourmetfestival.ch/en/program It is going to be tasty, aromatic and sophisticated: Middle Eastern kitchen chef will take over and spoil the guests to different culinary cultures, from 20th to 28th January. Gourmet safaris and the Kitchen Party are an absolute must!
From 22nd January until 5th February Olympia Bob Run promises a great entertaining program on top of sport performances on the occasion of 26th World Championships. More here: https://www.wm2023.ch/english For a personal extra kick of adrenaline, consider to book bobsleigh taxi ride https://www.olympia-bobrun.ch/adrenalin or maybe even sign up for the beginner runs at Cresta Run https://www.cresta-run.com/ride-the-cresta/ride-the-cresta/
If bobsleigh or skeleton sound like too much adrenalin, but sledging downhill is still appealing, don’s miss the best tobogganing runs on Muottas Muragl or Preda Bergün. Several other family friendly slopes are available too: in Maloja (with snow tubing), in Sils, Pontresina and Zuoz. By the way the night tobogganing in Celerina is a great plan for one of those February Wednesday evenings. All of those are of course snow coverage permitting.
Frozen lake, mountain landscape, horses or ponies, champagne & oysters or mulled wine & raclette (mind the temperatures), people watching, having fun, meeting friends and creating memories: it is all about Snow Polo and White Turf! Note the 2023 dates: 27th to 29th January for Snow Polo https://www.snowpolo-stmoritz.com/ and 4th-5th, 11th-12th and 18th-19th February for White Turf https://www.whiteturf.ch/
Snow golf is nothing new, but a golf event on the frozen lake of St. Moritz is. A 9-hole golf course will be open from the 8th to the 10th February for all golf enthusiasts.
A new event to watch (and to savor with moderation): St. Moritz Cocktail Week, planned for 16th to 19th February after the success of its Lago di Como edition. Their website will be updated with the exact program soon: https://stmoritzcocktailweek.com/
From 24th tо 25th February it is time for the I.C.E. An absolute winter must for exceptional cars fans. https://theicestmoritz.ch/ And if you are in the Engadin during that weekend, don’t miss the new edition of Nomad exhibition, from 23rd tо 26th February. https://www.nomad-circle.com/destinations
There is of course much more than this to do in St. Moritz: snow carting and curling, exceptional culinary and music events organized by the luxury hotels, endless winter hiking trails and shopping, paragliding and helicopter panoramic flights, the fun Surf Over contest at the end of season and art galleries discoveries, partying day at Paradiso or Salastrains and then by night in Dracula Club, King’s Social House or Pavarotti and much more. If you can’t decide how to create a perfect entertainment program for your stay in St. Moritz, just ask your private PPM concierge: we would be delighted to assist!
